Break the restaurant
noise spiral

When a room gets loud, everyone talks louder — and it never stops climbing. CAFETERIA runs on a phone or tablet and adaptively manages your existing music to break that loop, automatically.

No new speakers. No installation. No new music subscription — it works alongside whatever you already play.

Only possible on Android — no iOS app can do this.

The noise feeds itself

Restaurants get loud for a simple reason: when the room is noisy, people raise their voices to be heard — which makes the room noisier, which makes everyone raise their voices again. Acousticians call it the Lombard effect. Left alone, a busy dining room climbs to levels where conversation, comfort, and your guests' experience all suffer.

CAFETERIA breaks the loop. It listens to the room and continuously adjusts your music — not just louder or quieter, but shaping it so speech stays clear — so the spiral never takes hold.

1

Install on your device

Put CAFETERIA on any Android phone or tablet and connect it to the speakers you already use — Bluetooth or wired.

2

It listens to the room

The device's microphone measures the room's sound level — not conversations — separating crowd noise from your music.

3

It adapts automatically

CAFETERIA adjusts the music in real time to keep the room comfortable. No knob-watching — it runs itself.

Works with the music you already play

CAFETERIA isn't a music service and doesn't replace yours. It runs alongside any music app on the same Android device and manages the level — so you keep your playlists, your licensing, and your sound.

Licensed business BGM services

Recommended for commercial venues

  • Soundtrack (Soundtrack Your Brand)
  • OTORAKU -音・楽- (USEN)
  • モンスター・チャンネル

Streaming apps

  • Qobuz, Apple Music, YouTube Music — full seamless measurement
  • Spotify and others — supported, without seamless mode

If it plays music on Android, CAFETERIA can manage it. Nothing to integrate, nothing to configure — install both apps and go.

Why only Android?

Adaptive, room-aware volume control needs two things at once: continuous listening to the room, and the ability to manage another app's playback. Android allows both. iOS, by design, allows neither — so this category of app simply cannot exist on iPhone or iPad, and that won't change.

Any Android phone or tablet from 2019 onward works. A dedicated tablet costs less than one acoustic panel.

It's a safety issue, not just a comfort one

Peak service in a busy restaurant runs 85–95 dB. OSHA limits workplace exposure at 85 dB to eight hours a shift (29 CFR 1910.95); at 88 dB, the safe limit is cut in half. Your servers, bartenders, and kitchen staff spend whole shifts in it — and noise-induced hearing damage is permanent. Chronic noise is also a documented contributor to an industry that already loses more than 75% of its staff every year.

Noise shows up on the check — and in your reviews

Noise is one of the most common complaints in restaurant reviews, and reviews move revenue. Harvard Business School research links a one-star increase in Yelp rating to a 5–9% revenue increase. Guests spend less when it's loud, too: studies find willingness-to-spend drops once a dining room passes about 52 dB, and venues that brought their acoustics under control have reported double-digit revenue lifts and higher ratings. A quieter room isn't just more pleasant — it's better business.

What you need

CAFETERIA works with equipment most venues already have. Here's the short list.

An Android phone or tablet

Android 10 or newer. Any device you already own works — a spare one is perfect. (If your BGM service came with an Android tablet, that one works too.)

Your sound system

Connect the device to your existing speakers over a wired output or Bluetooth. For all-day commercial use, a wired connection to your amp is the most reliable.

Any music app

Your licensed BGM service (OTORAKU, モンスター・チャンネル, Soundtrack) or a streaming app — see the compatibility list above. CAFETERIA works with what you've got.

Where to put it

Anywhere next to the main dining area's airspace — the bar, a service station, a shelf — so it can hear both the room and the music from your speakers. It doesn't need to be out among the tables, and it's trained to ignore the clanks and clatter you'd expect nearby.

Your guests' privacy is protected. CAFETERIA measures the room's sound level only — it never records, monitors, or transcribes what anyone says. No conversations are captured or stored.

Try it during one busy service

The best way to understand CAFETERIA is to run it on a Friday night. Install it before service, let it manage the room, and compare — the app shows you the evening's sound levels and every adjustment it made.

Run a restaurant group? We're piloting with a small number of groups across 2–5 venues — same app, plus the ability to compare noise patterns across locations and services.
